Katiria Maldonado-Davila caught at Nashville International Airport with 47 pounds of marijuana
38-year-old Katiria Maldonado-Davila was taken into custody for felony possession on March 4th. Nashville International Airport Police investigated an inbound Southwest flight from San Jose, California. Officers deployed their narcotics detection K-9 unit, Peggy, which gave a positive indication to two bags displaying “Kati Maldonado.” Officers approached Maldonado as she walked down C concourse, asking if she was Katiria Maldonado-Davila, which she denied. Officers asked again after explaining why they approached her. Maldonado then provided her Pennsylvania Driver’s License, confirming her identity. Officers explained that their K-9 unit, Peggy, was alerted to her bags, so they asked to search them, but she refused. Officers then obtained a search warrant for the two pieces of luggage. Officers located ten vacuum-sealed bundles of marijuana weighing around 25 pounds in her USTRAVELER suitcase. In addition, officers found nine vacuum-sealed bundles of marijuana weighing about 22 pounds in her SAMSONITE suitcase. The marijuana found in both suitcases totaled to approximately 47 pounds or 21,318.8 grams.
