Sherry Halpern told police "He gets mean, but he would never hit me" when describing her husband, 61-year-old Scott Halpern. Metro Nashville Officers arrived at Johnny Cash’s Bar & BBQ at 1:42 a.m. Sunday to find Sherry with a bloody nose and hands. A witness was checking on her welfare when he says he observed Scott push his wife against a wall and put his hands at her neck. Sherry first said some stranger punched her walking down the street, then said she had no idea how she became bloody but then stated explicitly that her husband would never hit her.
